A very interesting message of the Council of Europe

We reproduce here the following message of the Council of Europe, an initiative that seems very interesting and attractive.

The Council of Europe invites you to discover and freely download (*) the mini-brochure “European Convention on Human Rights – Our rights, our freedoms”: http://www.coe.int/AboutCoe/media/interface/publications/tshirt_cedh_en.pdf.

This pocket-sized brochure is also available in hard copy, in English, French and German, from docrequest@coe.int

In this publication, 15 articles from the European Convention on Human Rights are presented as original t-shirt motifs.

The idea is to show that human rights protection is a matter of concern to all of us in our everyday lives. A T-shirt is a powerful and highly personal medium for publicly displaying our beliefs and tastes.

Well-known figures such as Barbara Hendricks, Bianca Jagger, Florence Aubenas, Abd El Malik, Roland Mack, Lilian Thuram and Tomi Ungerer proudly sported these human rights t-shirts for the “Wear your rights” campaign, as did Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland, Deputy Secretary General Maud de Boer-Buquicchio and a number of young Europeans keen to support this cause. http://human-rights-convention.org/wear-your-rights/

Given the success of these t-shirts and in response to heavy demand, the Council of Europe has decided to make them available for wide distribution on a non-profit-making basis. They can be ordered directly on the site http://www.wearyourrights.org.

Right to life, right to education, freedom of expression, prohibition of the death penalty… There is no shortage of reasons for wearing the rights and freedoms of over 800 million Europeans for all to see.

A fashion has been started. We hope that, like us, you will want to keep it going.

We hope that you will like the brochure and the T-shirt. We would appreciate it if you could disseminate the information to other interested parties. In particular, we would be thankful if the data could be posted on your website to make both products available to as many people as possible.
